Front tooth extraction after a running accident

Buy video

This was just a few hours after I had front tooth extraction and bone graft surgery. I am currently training for LA marathon. The day before this, I fell on the last mile of my morning run. Unfortunately, I hit the ground face first cracking 3 teeth and fracturing up into my jaw. My dentist was able to fix one tooth but my front teeth had to be removed. I had no idea how complex the implant process is. I will need to heal for 6 months until I can have my next implant surgery, then I will need another 4+months of healing until crowns can be made then placed a few weeks later. In the meantime, I am very thankful to have my retainer where my extracted teeth were glued giving me the appearance of having teeth. I am clearly very upset in this video. I don’t think you understand the trauma of missing teeth until you experience it. I am doing a lot better now and am back to marathon training! Putting this video out there was as much for my acceptance as it was for others. I’ve been received so kindly and have had many reach out to tell me their stories. I’ve become part of a community that I didn’t even know existed. I’m moving forward and smiling through the process as much as I can.
