One of the most serious incidents unfolded in the Shire of Harvey, where a bushfire triggered an emergency warning for parts of Wokalup, Wellesley, Parkfield, and Benger on 29 December 2025, according to alerts issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).

The fire was reported on the evening of 29 December, with its cause officially listed as “under investigation.” Authorities are examining whether the ignition was the result of dry lightning or suspicious or accidental human activity, though no determination has yet been made.
