VARIOUS OF DEMONSTRATORS GATHERED OUTSIDE US EMBASSY / PROTESTERS CHANTING SLOGANS, WAVING VENEZUELAN FLAGS, HOLDING BANNERS AND PLACARDS CRITICIZING US ACTIONS JAKARTA, INDONESIA - JAN. 6: Dozens of demonstrators gathered outside the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday, Jan. 6, to protest recent developments involving Venezuela, calling for the release of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The demonstration was organized by a coalition of student groups, labor unions and civil society organizations in central Jakarta.

Protesters chanted slogans and waved Venezuelan flags while holding banners opposing US actions related to Venezuela.

Speakers at the rally criticized the US military operation, describing it as a violation of international law and national sovereignty.

The protest concluded peacefully under police presence.

Trump had accused Maduro of overseeing drug shipments into the US and holding power illegitimately through election fraud.

Maduro, who is currently in custody at a New York detention facility pending various charges, has rejected the allegations and officials in Caracas have called for his release.

His wife, first lady Cilia Flores is also facing federal criminal charges and is being held at the same facility.
