US Farm life moment goes viral after cow gets stuck searching for salt

A Pennsylvania farmer captured an unexpectedly funny moment on his grazing lease in Homer City when one of his cows, eager for salt, got her head stuck in the wheel well of his truck. The clip was filmed by Eli Mack, who was the only person present and recorded the scene on his Samsung phone. The video, posted to Instagram under @mackfarms, has now surpassed four million views.

Eli explained that he had recently removed the herd’s salt and mineral supply to prepare for moving them to another farm, leaving the cattle temporarily without their usual supplements. In winter, Pennsylvania roads are heavily treated with road salt, which coats his truck. So when he pulls in to do chores — like filling water troughs — the cows often gather around to lick the salt off the vehicle as a substitute.

On this particular day, one enthusiastic cow leaned in a little too far during her salty snack and managed to wedge her head inside the wheel well. The moment, equal parts chaotic and comical, highlights both the cows’ natural craving for minerals and the everyday unpredictability of life on a Pennsylvania farm.
