ISTANBUL, TÜRKİYE - JAN. 8: Türkiye's Marmara Region has been grappling with severe storms and strong winds since Thursday morning, causing significant damage across Istanbul and neighboring provinces.

The adverse weather conditions, which intensified throughout the day, have disrupted daily life in multiple districts of the metropolis.

Fallen trees have damaged numerous vehicles in several districts.

Rising waves caused by the storm led to boats anchored along the coast to capsize. Some vessels crashed into the shore and broke apart, while others sank. Boat owners were seen arriving at the scene to assess the damage and take protective measures.

The Meteorology 1st Regional Directorate Istanbul Regional Forecast and Early Warning Center has issued warnings for continued adverse weather conditions.

Beginning Friday morning, strong winds and storms from southerly and southwesterly directions are forecast to affect Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Yalova provinces.

Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution and take necessary precautions against potential hazards, including transportation disruptions, structural damage from flying debris, carbon monoxide poisoning from heating appliances, and blizzard conditions in snow-covered areas.
