China: Chinese downstairs resident strikes back at upstairs noise with homemade ping-pong system
Shaanxi, China - January 08, 2026 This is the comedic moment that a Chinese downstairs resident retaliated against persistent upstairs noise by creating a homemade ping pong sound device. On January 9, 2025, in Shaanxi, China, the video captured a man standing in his room while operating a small handheld remote control connected to four ping-pong balls tied with thin strings to his ceiling. Each time he pressed the button, the device tugged the strings upward, causing the lightweight balls to rhythmically bounce and tap against the floor above. The footage showed him testing different speeds, sometimes pulling gently and sometimes yanking harder, producing rapid knocking sounds that clearly traveled upstairs. The video ended with the ping-pong balls still bouncing repeatedly against the ceiling as the remote continued to click.
