Crashed my Yamaha R1 - low-side on circuit in Spain
A crash on a race circuit occurred with a high spec'ed Yamaha R1 on the circuit of Castelloli close to Barcelona in Spain. Due to excessive acceleration in a corner the pilot lost control at high speed and went down in a so called lowsider. The pilot reacted by counter steering but ultimately had to let lose as the bike skidded away. Moments later leaking oil from the damaged crankcase cover ignited into a fire ball that swept over the bike. The pilot remained unharmed.
