NYC Parking Rage - full video
This whole situation started off with me taking a parking spot in Manhattan. In NYC, especially in Manhattan, you don't have a lot of time to park since there are always other cars behind you. You got to be quick.
I saw a spot from the beginning of the block, and I parked. As soon as I parked, this spoiled lady runs out of her double-parked Benz and starts yelling that I took her spot. I told her that she was double parked ever since I was on this block and she did not make any attempts to park at all. This escalated very quickly and she started banging on the hood of my car. I started recording this scene using my cell phone while my wife was calling 911. That rage lady started cursing at me. At some point I actually offered to give her the spot if she stops insulting me. That never happened.
After 15 minutes of this spectacle random guy pulls up and tries to defuse the situation by offering both me and the rage lady $20 to leave so he will take a spot and problem is over. I told him that I don't care about the money and at this point I am interested to leave and not waste any time with this troll. He tries to convince her to take money and go. Rage lady refuses and continues performing her act. After another 15 minutes she steps away from the car and I pull back so she can take the spot. I double parked right by her car and waited for NYPD officers to arrive. They joined us shortly after to take incident report and talk to the rage lady.
Moral of the story is to pay attention to your surroundings. Especially if you are looking for parking in Manhattan. She was most likely browsing her phone and did not even notice a free spot. On the other hand I see a parking spot with a double parked car nearby and assume that the person is being considerate to others and is there temporarily waiting to pick someone up. Misunderstandings happen, and I would have moved out from the spot if she explained her situation. Instead she resorted to violence and will now be a YouTube star. Enjoy.
