Dramatic dashcam footage of a metal sheet hitting a driver's windscreen after it flew off from a lorry.

The video, shot in 2016 in Kentucky, USA, captures the moment the metal sheet is blown off the lorry and smashes onto the driver's windscreen.

"When the metal impacted the car, it put a hole in the hood, broke the windshield, smashed out the glass of the sunroof (which caused a shower of broken glass to rain down on me in the car) and deep scrap marks all over the car resulting in nearly $4000 worth of damage," the driver told Newsflare.

"The semi was never located and I had the pay to cover the damages to the vehicle."

On Monday 3/14/16 @ 11:45am, I was traveling South on 1-71 approaching Pendleton, KY. I was approaching a flatbed semi that was hauling (what appeared to be) two dumpsters that were open. The semi was in the right lane several hundred yards ahead and I was in the right lane passing a minivan. (It's beside me in the video but not visible.) A giant piece of metal lifted out of one of the dumpsters that the semi was hauling and hit the hood, windshield, roof and trunk of my car (2010 Nissan Maxima). Even tho I did see the piece of metal coming right at me, I was unable to swear because of the minivan beside me.

I pulled over and called 911 who instructed me to exit at the next ramp (Exit #28) and wait for a KY State Trooper. I was specifically told NOT to follow the semi to obtain a plate number and they would send a trooper to try to catch up to it. The semi was never located and I had the pay to cover the damages to the vehicle.
