An awesome video has emerged of a man paddling near a pod of humpback whales when the calf hits his board.

The footage, shot on October 10 off Gold Coast, Australia, shows three whales approaching the paddler.

The curious calf then swims under the paddle board and taps it with its fin.

"I saw, around 300m from me, a pod of whales, so I started to paddle to them. Suddenly they came straight to me, the two biggest swam next to me and the baby under my board!" the filmer told Newsflare.

"He moved me a bit then looked at me in the eye. That was incredible," he added.

I took my paddle board to enjoy the ocean on a beautiful sunny morning, at Nobby's beach, Gold Coast.
I went to the shark net, which is around 800m offshore.
I saw, around 3OOm from me, a pod of whales, so I started to paddle to them.
When I was close to them, I stopped and I started to film with my GoPro.
Suddenly they came straight to me, the 2 biggest swam next to me and the baby under my board! He moved me a bit then looked at me in the eye. That was incredible.
A drone was filming above me, so when I came back to the shore I looked for the owner of the drone.
I found him and he was happy to share with me his videos.
