Train early, overshot station and reversed back to platform

I usually get the 8.27 or 8.32 train from Stevenage to Kings Cross and this morning I was late and headed straight to coffee shop on the platform. Whilst in queue it was announced that the 8.32 train which hadn't stopped had pulled up just outside Stevenage would be reversing back to the platform. I grabbed my coffee thinking 'great, won't be late' and stood on the platform with other passengers, phone ready to capture anything on video. I could see the train further up the track (past the platform). Overheard one of the train guards telling some passengers that the train had come through a bit early and just hadn't stopped. Driver returned to the platform, passengers got off, many more got on and once we had a signal continued on our non stop journey to King's Cross, London where we arrived at platform 7 only 10 mins later than planned. A bit of excitement for a Thursday morning, handled very well by Great Northern staff.
