Grant Wagstaff's race at the Superstock 2 race at the 2014 TT ended prematurely when the pit stop on the 2nd lap went dramatically wrong. The fuel nozzle wasn't properly in the tank, causing fuel to spill on to Grant and the hot engine and exhaust. Suddenly the fuel ignited, engulfing the bike and crew. Ben the refueller suffered burns to his hand and face and needed treatment at Nobles Hospital. He was detained overnight but released next day. Everyone else escaped injury. Grant was doing well and would probably have achiever a top 20 finish and a 120mph lap. Still, there is always next year!
