The very British sport of Lawnmower racing has gained popularity World-wide with many countries such as America and Australia adopting the sport with their own racing associations.

The cheap motor sport has now gained popularity in Finland where they hosted the annual Lawn mower Ice Grand Prix.

The Leikkurile LeMans was run around the rural town of Lavia some 250 km from Helsinki, on Saturday 8th February.

Drivers with their backup teams from all over Europe had to complete as many laps within a 9 - hour time frame.

Weather conditions were overcast in the main with temperatures ranging from ¯4°C to ¯8°C so drivers had to keep warm, especially their extremities; their toes and fingers. Fading light towards the end of the race also proved a challenge making concentration more difficult.

After 9 hours the British team ‘Mower with Atitude’ clocked up the most laps.
