Bernard Laporte cheers up minutes after France awarded Rugby World Cup 2023
Video of Bernard Laporte, president of the French Rugby Federation, minutes after France obtained the organisation of the Rugby World Cup in 2023.
In the video shot on Wednesday (November 15), we can see Laporte cheering with colleagues while he is on his way to do some interviews.
France won in the second round of voting with 24 votes against 15 for South Africa. Ireland got dropped in the first round.
It will be the 10th edition of the tournament which also happens to coincide with the 200-year anniversary of the sport of rugby, invented by William Webb Ellis at Rugby School.
