Baby Elephant cross deep river with Mommy

We arrived at a river crossing in Kruger National Park, South Africa. There we were entertained by a herd of Elephants on the opposite bank of the river. Among them, a young baby elephant, about 6 months old. Once the herd finished drinking and feeding, they started moving straight into the deep river. They were ready to cross to the other side. Of course, little baby elephant had no choice but to join the journey. Splashing, flapping, gulping for air with trunk in the air, the little one took on the challenge. Luckily Mommy and the other adults were nearby. Few times the youngster could use his trunk to grab on for some assistance. Once on the other side, the baby elephant ran out with great relief. It did get stuck though, trying to get onto the other bank of the river. Eventually the little one was back on his feet and moved off with the rest of the herd.
