Playful baby warthogs enjoy head butting contest while mother takes time to graze

Watching baby animals in the African wild is mostly a heart-warming, cute or funny experience. In so many ways these baby animals show behavior that typically resembles that of human children in a family situation. I found this mother warthog with her two playful babies in the Kruger National Park. The mother warthog was relaxed and grazing along while her two youngsters, like typical children, had different plans. The two baby warthogs looked full of energy and couldn’t stand still for longer than a minute. Instead of taking the time to feed, the two youngsters decided to rather enjoy a play fight session. Like two little boys, the two male baby warthogs were testing their strength and fighting skills against each other. In a very energetic style, the playful warthogs went at each other at full speed, butting and nudging each other with their heads and snouts. It looked so funny to see these two tiny creatures going at each all over the place. As soon as one baby stopped, the other one would start to pick a fight again. So it went on and on. I was totally amused by this whole scene and one of the cutest things I have seen in a long time. The mother warthog couldn’t be bothered by any of it and just continued grazing away. She obviously knew she had to stock up on energy which she will need to look after her two very busy boys.
