This intrepid swimmer plunged into icy waters in Lake Windemere, north-west England, this morning.

Lauren, 23, is from Kendal in Cumbria. She's a triathlete who trains year-round and uses Lake Windermere to swim in whatever the weather.

But with water temperatures of around 3 degrees C and air temperature of minus 2, she did at least keep a woolly hat on while in the water.

A large cold front, popularly called the Beast From The East, has brought snow, ice and cold winds across much of the UK.

Braving the icy waters of Lake Windermere this plucky wild water swimmer takes a dip even whilst there's snow on the ground! With water temperature of around 3 degrees and air temperature of minus 2 it's a good idea to keep a woolly hat on!
