Bali covered in plastics - the ugly side of the paradise island

Buy video

Bali has been known for it's paradise-like beauty for decades. However, since there is no effective waste management in else where except in Denpasar-area, the locals solve their garbage problem by dumping everything in forests and in river channels. When the rains comes, the trash is flushed out to sea and pollutes beaches and coral reefs.
This video is filmed during the rainy season in November 2016 in Pemuteran beach, which is located in north-east part of the island. The beach has famous artificial reef, which has suffered in recent years of heavy plastic pollution. Also algae blooms prohibit light penetration thus making it more difficult for corals to grow.
