Out-of-control car slams into waiting vehicle after reversing across UK high street
+CLIENTS PLEASE NOTE: THIS VIDEO IS MUTE AND HAS BEEN LOOPED+
This is the heart-stopping moment a reversing car crashes into another vehicle at speed on a busy UK high street.
The dash-cam footage, captured in the small English town of Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, shows an out-of-control car suddenly appearing in the view of the dash-cam vehicle, crossing the High Street in reverse and at speed and smashing into the rear of the car in front that was waiting at a pedestrian crossing.
At the beginning of the video the black car at fault can be seen edging forward in the opposite direction of the dash-cam vehicle.
When the dash-cam vehicle and the car in front come to a halt, the black vehicle - now reversing at speed - suddenly appears in view - and crashes into the vehicle in front.
Pedestrians rush towards the driver of the black vehicle to check on his condition.
The unfortunate driver of the car in front is seen getting out.
Both drivers - a man in his forties in the car in front and an older male in the reversing black vehicle - walked away unharmed, the dash-cam owner said, although the waiting car was written off.
One online commenter said: "How do u even go from being parked in a bay facing in the opposite direction to then be going sideways across a road at that speed? That's just absolutely shocking but I guess (it) proves u really never know what's going to happen next."
The clip was captured on April 4 but has only now emerged online. (The date information in the dash-cam is incorrect.)
