A private plane that departed from Austin, Texas, crashed off the end of a runaway at an airport in Honduras' capital today (May 22).

Aftermath footage, captured this afternoon, shows the remains of the plane, which broke in half during the accident, as rescue forces attend the scene.

According to reports, crew and passengers were rescued and are out of danger.

The filmer writes: ''I landed on a small plane about an hour before the crash and I’m supposed to leave on American but the airport is closed.

''There is only one runway and it is a very short runway.

''The private jet did not touch down soon enough to stop on the short runway.

''Now it’s sitting in the middle of a major artery leading into the city of Tegucigalpa.

''It’s supposed to be the shortest international runway in the world and the approach is very tough weaving through mountains.''

I was, am, at the airport when it happened. I landed on a small plane about an hour before the crash. I’m supposed to leave on American but the airport is closed. There’s only 1 runway. It’s a very short runway. The private jet did not touch down soon enough to stop on the short runway. Now it’s sitting in the middle of a major artery leading into the city of tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. This happened about 10 years ago w a TACA jet. That time the airport was closed 2 months. It’s supposed to be the shortest international runway in the world. The approach is very tough weaving through mountains. The jet came from Austin w 6 Business men, all Americans. They’re at a local hospital receiving treatment.
