Young riders horse rears up in the river at the Appleby Fair
On a very warm first day of Appleby Horse Fair in Cumbria, the Gypsies and travellers start bringing their horses down to the River Eden to be washed and to cool off by their riders taking them into the deeper water.
This young lad was very confident and seemed to have the horse he was ridding well under his control.
Most of the horses seem to enjoy the experience and are excited going into the water, but others are more reluctant to enter the water needing some encouragement.
This footage captures the excitement of the horses and their handlers and riders on a beautiful morning in Appleby.
