Geese protect babies from heat wave

Buy video

There is a heat wave occurring in Northern Indiana. The excessive heat has hit temperatures over 97 degrees with a feels like temperature of 108 degrees. We noticed that the geese have taken steps to protect thier goslings from the excessive heat.

I shot this video today on the Tippecanoe river. Normaly the geese and their babies swim along in the middle of the river. However, with the heat wave they have adapted to the extreme weather
conditions.

They now swim along the sides of the river staying in the shade of the trees instead. We noticed all of them moving out of the hot sun and keeping with the river banks where the shade will protect thier young from the high temperature and heat of the sun. Animals find a way to keep cool and protect themselves
