A subway passenger in Toronto stole a phone that she thought had recorded her racist rant.

In the video, a young passenger can be seen yelling “Go back to China” to another passenger.

The young passenger is then seen running down the subway car with the victim’s phone in her hand.

“Give me my cellphone,” the victim says.

“I’ll give it to you. Take the video off of it,” the young passenger replies.

As the two passengers struggle with the phone, the filmer yells to the young passenger, “Stop assaulting her!”

“I was yelling at her to stop assaulting her and stop touching her,” the filmer said. “I was angry.”

“The subway stopped, the doors opened and she snatched her phone and ran,” the filmer continued. “She assumed the woman was filming her. She didn’t. She has bad eyesight.”

“I waited for the police to arrive and gave them my statement,” the filmer said. “This is unacceptable behavior!”

The footage was filmed on July 28.

CTV News Toronto reported on August 1 that the young passenger who made the racist rant and stole the phone “has been charged with robbery and failure to comply with probation.”
