Fire officials arrived on the runways of Reagan National Airport during a power outage on Wednesday night (August 15) that left commuters in darkness and affected air traffic control.

The airport tweeted about the outage shortly before 10 p.m.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said a Dominion Energy issue had caused the outage and the airport authority was working with Dominion to get power restored.

All flights were put on hold, but authorities said most flights for the night had taken off and there should not be a major disruption to schedules.
