Bemused shoppers were seen walking by a mini 'river' after a shopping mall flooded when the roof collapsed.

Urban Village in Monterrey, in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon suffered severe damage after heavy rains hit the area with hundreds of people being affected.

A roof collapsed at the shopping mall sending rain water cascading from the ceiling. Shoppers rushed out of the building as guards stood next to the flooded area.

Shopper Michael Jesus Fernandez said: ''There was something like a small river inside the shopping area. It was strange. The staff helped everyone to leave safely.''

Luckily nobody was injured in the accident.

The area was experiencing the consequences of a heavy rainstorm that caused a river to burst its banks, flooded streets and led to electricity cuts.
