A video has emerged of dead badgers lying on a country road in Dartmoor, UK.

The filmer, who captured the footage on the B3212 on Tuesday afternoon, alleges that the badgers might have been killed elsewhere and then placed on the road to look like roadkill.

“Both badgers were within 100 metres of each other. There was no blood, no sign of injury from being hit by a vehicle” the filmer later wrote online.

“It seems local farmers are killing badgers and dumping them on the road to look like road kill” he alleged.

A recent report by The Badger Trust claims that illegal snaring of the animals is rising and “the demonisation of badgers by the government and farming industry to justify the badger cull is leading to a significant increase in illegal persecution of the species”.
