Two tourists were killed after being hit by stray bullets from a terrifying gang fight in front of a coach full of holidaymakers in Thailand last night (October 7).

The families had been eating at an Indian restaurant in the capital Bangkok when two gangs emerged from a nearby snooker hall and opened fire.

Police said that the groups used AK-47 assault rifles, pistols, sticks and knifes - sending bullets flying across the street.

A 42-year-old Indian national, Gakhrejr Dheeraj, and a 28-year-old Lao tourist, Keovongsa Thonekeo, died after they were taken to the hospital.

Another Indian tourist, along with two Thai men, was also injured in the crossfire.

Officers arrived at the blood-splattered scene next to the Centara Watergate Pavillion at 8:30pm and began investigating.

Police major general Senit Samararn Samruajkit said the shootout started after two groups of young men emerged from a nearby snooker club into an alley just beside the car park.

He said that the gangs - including more than 20 people - fled when officers arrived and there have so far been no arrests.

Cops found a large number spent 9mm and 7.62mm cartridges from AK-47s. It is not known if any of the injured people were from the gangs.

Police major general Senit Samararn Samruajkit said: ''Police were informed of the incident at 8:30pm and arrived quickly. First aid was given to the injured men.

''From the preliminary investigation, the expected cause is a dispute between two adolescent rival groups. The offenders will be identified and prosecuted. We are checking CCTV.''
