Hundreds of tourists including British revellers fled a police raid on a Thai 'Sin City' nightclub.

Cops raided the Club One Pattaya nightclub sparking chaos when a number of illegal drugs were found on Sunday night October 23.

A tourist who was allegedly carrying pills refused to let officers search him before other bar-goers ran out of the establishment.

Footage shows a crowd of tourists and locals pouring out of the building. Another clip showed a club-goer arguing with the police.

Police Major General Surachit Chingnawan said: ‘We received a tip that illegal activities were happening at the club at night. We set up check points and patrol around the entertainment venue and confirmed them in a raid.'

Officers raided the club and turned off the music before doing a search. Customers were also inspected and a number of assorted party drugs were seized as evidence.

However, police were not able to control hundreds of customers when they pushed to leave the place.

Police said they are working on charging a case against the owner and manager of the nightclub for failing to comply with local laws.

However, it was unclear whether those who fled the nightclub, including the foreigners, would still be pursued for offences.

Police Major General Surachit Chingnawan added: 'The tourists inside the nightclub were from a number of countries including the UK, Russia, India and Australia. There were also Thai nationals.

'We have not identified any of them yet but we can do by checking the CCTV.

Pattaya is a city on the east coast of Thailand best known for its round-the-clock nightlife and bustling sex industry that has led to it being called a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah or Sin City.

It attracts millions of tourists each year and Brits looking to retire among the thousands of bars, massage parlours, strip clubs and sex workers.
