Armed forces representatives and volunteers have ignited around 10,000 torches scattered at the foot of the Tower of London in honour of the fallen soldiers of World War One.

This display, accompanied by a specially commissioned sound installation featuring choral music and words from Mary Borden’s Sonnets To A Soldier on Sunday evening, marks the centenary of the end of the war.

The Tower of London’s torch ceremony, called Beyond the Deepening Shadow, will be repeated every night until Remembrance Sunday on 11 November.
