Amazing footage of the Antares rocket explosion

Amazing amateur footage has emerged of the Antares rocket explosion in Virginia, USA on Tuesday.

The remarkable video was captured by Chris Harr who was standing 1.5 miles west of the launch pad on Oyster Bay with his wife and son.

It shows the moment the unmanned craft burst into flames seconds after taking off and the aftermath as rocket fuel plumed into the sky.

The rocket was due to carry nearly 5,000lb (2,200kgs) of supplies to six astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The cause of the cargo ship malfunction has yet to be determined.
