Nayib Bukele, former mayor of San Salvador, won the presidency of El Salvador on Sunday, bringing an end to the two-party system that has dominated the country’s politics for three decades.

Footage captured yesterday (February 3) shows Nayib Bukele casting his vote at a polling station in San Salvador.

With most of the votes counted, Bukele exceeded the 50 percent threshold required to avoid a run-off.

The new president will take office on June 1 for a five-year term.
