Presidential elections are held in San Salvador, El Salvador

This Sunday, at 17:00 local time (22H00 UTC), the voting centers in El Salvador were closed, thus concluding the presidential and legislative elections.
In addition to the presidential election, on Sunday the Salvadorans will renew the Congress with the participation of 10 political parties. The Legislative Assembly will be reduced from 84 to 60 deputies, seeking greater efficiency and representativeness. The Central American country will also simplify its municipal structure, going from 262 to 44 municipalities. The election of mayors and municipal councils will take place on 3 March 2024.
