RESIDENTS BATTLE TO PREVENT HOMES BEING FLOODED TONIGHT

Reporter: Stuart Littleford

Residents on Delph New Road in Dobcross are tonight battling to prevent their homes from being flooded once again as surface drains are unable to cope due to heavy rain again today.

Using only brushes and their own submersible pumps, they have have been working tirelessly for hours, trying to keep the dirty water from entering their homes.

A few years ago blocked gullies resulted in many of the houses on Delph New Road succumbing to flood waters when the River Tame burst its banks.

One resident told SN tonight they were “hoping for some help from authorities” but weren’t sure when that would arrive.

“We are all getting hands on tonight to help each other out, that’s all we can we do, “ he added.

Although rain has stopped for now the River Tame remains very high with more rain forecast.
