Monster Shelf Cloud 5

Buy video

Monster shelf cloud on the leading edge of a vast multicell thunderstorm which had been producing 1000s of lightning strikes as it crossed from below the border then into N. Ireland heading NE in a very unstable set-up with 1800 CAPE and LIs of -5, this shelf was huge and striated with multiple layers and similar to the standard seen in the USA!, I have never seen a structure in this country of this standard before or since. A times the rain curtain behind it had a tinge of green and the lightning was pink - utterly amazing and rare sight from a UK storm chasers perspective! Intercepted outside Ballyronan near Lough Neagh.
