Update:
Shamokin Police Department fire investigator Ray Siko has ruled this incident electrical in nature and accidental. Siko confirmed that the fire started at the base of the sough interior first-floor wall of 18 North Franklin Street before spreading to the adjoining home and claiming the life of a 23 year old woman.
Northumberland County Coroner James F.Kelley confirmed that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning.


05:46 A first alarm working structure fire with confirmed entrapment was dispatched at 16 North Franklin Str., Shamokin, Pa. A Male escaped the flames and was transported to an area hospital with burns. While a 24 year old Female went to God. A County officials (Coroner) has responded to the scene around 07:30.
Per radio traffic several residence were rescued from the roof.
The fire spread to homes on both sides consuming structures from 10 thru 26 North Franklin Str.

The fire was upgraded by special call due.
After all available rescues were conducted a defensive operation was conducted.
EMS transported 2 individuals and rehab was setup due to humidity and temperatures expected during the morning.
06:45 and evacuation was order due as the structure was becoming unsafe prior to the collapse of several roofs.
Fire fighters from 4 counties are currently working on this fire involving more than 10 homes.
