This is the dramatic moment a policeman sprints through busy traffic while chasing a thief.

The man in beige shorts was running away after allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a passer-by in Manila, Philippines, on August 2 at 4 pm.

But a policeman gave chase for almost a mile - before finally collaring the suspect as he tried to board a jeepney bus.

The chase was captured by driver Gerald Dumasal whose dashboard camera recorded the arrest.

He said it was ''front-row seat for the action''.

Gerald added: "One of our brave policemen ran after a snatcher. Most would have probably given up the chase, especially if they were alone.''

In the video, the alleged thief is seen dashing through cars and eventually riding a jeepney in an attempt to hide away.

The cop caught the would-be fugitive and handcuffed him to take to the precinct in Manila City.

The identities of the policeman and the suspect are still unknown.
