Police in Rialto in southern California responded to a reports of shots being fired at a house party on Saturday night.

Officers had to control a large crowd of people in front of the residence after what one witness described as at least 20 gunshots.

Broken glass and shell casings could be seen in the road outside, along with a grey SUV that had been hit by several gunshots, shattering the rear window and the windscreen.

There were reports the driver had fled, uninjured, while other injured people had gone to hospital. The witnesses seemed intoxicated however.

The cause of the shooting is unknown. It is also unclear whether any victims or suspects have been identified.

Rialto Police responded to a call of multiple shots being fired at a house party. When arriving on scene officers had to control a large crowd of people in front of a residence after what one witness described as at least 20 gunshots. Broken glass and shell casings from a weapon of unknown caliber were in the roadway and a grey SUV was located a block north of where the house party was taking place, in the middle of the roadway. The SUV was struck several times by gunshots that left bullet holes in the passenger and driver side of the vehicle, shattered the rear window and one round struck the windshield. The vehicle was left abandoned in the middle of the road with the driver door open. The driver was nowhere to be found. According to witnesses that were at the party at the time the shooting occurred, possibly three were struck by gunfire and self transported to a local hospital before the arrival of first responders. The driver of the SUV fled but was uninjured. This information has not been confirmed and the two witnesses as well as a majority of people at the party were heavily intoxicated. The cause of the shooting is unknown at this time and it's unknown if any victims were located at local hospitals by officers or if any suspects have been identified.
