Kind-hearted passersby helped a drowning woman who fell into a dirty canal after tripping on the edge.

The street food vendor was walking along the waterway when she mistook the side for a set of steps, which she tried to walk down.

She then plunged 6ft into the choppy water below in Bangkok, Thailand, last Friday (October 18) morning.

Video recorded by a boat passenger Khun Tip shows, how onlookers donned orange life jackets and leaped into the water to drag the woman to safety.

Khun Tip said that she was shocked to see the vendor fell to the canal but relieved after she was rescued.

She said: "The vendor mistook the side of the canal for a step and fell into the water."

"She was drowning for almost half a minute and I was so worried at that moment but she floated up and was then rescued by the people."
