A major accident was averted due to the quick-thinking courage of a policeman who risked his life to put out a gas cylinder after it caught fire at a crowded market in central India.

The incident took place on December 1 in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh.

Visuals show an empty food stall where the gas cylinder placed in one corner suddenly catches fire, triggering panic among locals.

Noticing the fire, a man rushes towards it and tried to put out the flame.

Soon, a policeman too joins the man and they eventually succeed in extinguishing it, thus avoiding a major accident.

According to reports, the policeman, identified to be Kuldeep Soni, was on duty near the bus stand when he noticed the fire.

He pushed his way through the frightened onlookers and saved the day.
