With the procession of Santa Juana and Niño Jesús through the main streets of Antiguo Cuscatlán, the celebration begins in honor of the Holy Innocent Children, which is commemorated every December 28. Many families make a pilgrimage with the images of children in their arms to thank for miracles received; then, in the Catholic temple of Antiguo Cuscatlán, the figures are placed in a room attached to the parish to receive the priestly blessing and then be exposed to the public. According to the faithful Catholics, Saint Jeanne became the protector of many children in Bethlehem, when King Herod commanded them to be executed, with the purpose of killing the baby Jesus. Families from different parts of the country visit the room where the Holy Innocent Children wait to show their different outfits, the product of creativity and faith of those who take them to the temple the day before.
