British era train station building collapses in eastern India, two injured

A portion of a two-storey British era building of a bustling train station came crumbling down during the evening rush on Saturday (January 4) in the east Indian state of West Bengal.

The horrific footages of the incident show the moment building started developing cracks and a portion of at its main entrance collapsed. Two people who were trapped in the debris have been rescued. One of them suffered partial injuries, the other suffered critical injuries and, as per reports, battling for his life.

Around 7:40 pm people first noticed the said portion of the building developing cracks. The station staff members started to cordon off the area and warned the passengers about the possible collapse. It is because of that only two people were injured in the incident. DRM Howrah Ishak Khan confirmed, "The portion of the station building at Burdwan collapsed at 8.20 pm. There are no casualties so far. Two people suffered minor injuries in the incident."
