Getting Rid of a Diamond Python from Deck

It was the first Sunday of February at about 10:30 in the morning. I walked outside to get my shoes to put washing on the clothesline and found a big Diamond Python on our deck. After calling numerous Help Lines who charged 'call-out' fees to come and remove the snake, we decided to go DIY and try to get rid of it ourselves. My husband got the hose and began watering the snake and the area where it was to try and get it to move. My Husband was hosing down the snake from the outside of our house and the snake had moved from it's position and slithered up the stack of chairs. We thought it was trying to escape and go back to its home. The snake is finally moving a lot more than before, we were getting a bit nervous because we're not too friendly with snakes, even though we knew this kind wouldn't harm us. The snake is leaving and slithering away after hosing it down...or is it really leaving? The snake didn't end up leaving after all of that. He slid up one of the supporting posts for our deck and wrapped himself tightly around it and a gutter pipe. We decided that the only thing we knew worked was the hose so I went back and turned on the hose for my Husband. The snake ended up reaching the window sill of our kitchen, totally leaving his grip on the gutter pipe and support post of our deck. Once the snake had moved to the window sill there wasn't really any going back. He was stuck. We didnt want him coming towards us again on the deck, and there was no where for him to curl around or reach to on the window sill. My Husband was persistent with his hosing and sure enough, prevailed and the snake dropped off the window sill without a nudge from us. It took us 3 hours of patience to get rid of the snake on our own.
