Ice dragon boat race takes centre stage on frozen lake in northern China
A dragon boat race was held on a frozen lake in northern China.
The video filmed in Mudanjiang City in Heilongjiang Province on January 9, shows boats racing on frozen Jingpo Lake at the Ice Dragon Boat Super League.
Xu Rihui, Ice dragon boat racer from Guangdong, said: "Ice dragon boat racing is very exciting. I like ice and snow. While the temperature in my hometown in the south of China is typically over 20 degrees Celsius, here it is lower than -20 degrees Celsius. It's so cool."
Dragon boat racing on ice eliminates the seasonal limitations of traditional dragon boat sports.
The Jingpo Lake scenic area is promoting a "sports + tourism" model via the organisation of winter sports events.
