An Indian security force has come up with a novel idea to solve a problem with monkeys harassing people, by dressing up as bears to scare them off.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel at Camp-Mirthi in Uttarakhand dress up like bears whenever they see a band of monkeys creating a nuisance, as seen in video from March 8.

Footage shows several monkeys approaching the camp and two men step out dressed up as bears. The moment monkeys spot them, they flee.

An ITBP officer commented: "Monkeys were disrupting the routine work of our men. They have met their match now."

Fed up with monkey menace, an Indian security force has come up with a novel idea.

The tough simians which cannot be scared easily scoot the moment they see the human bears.

A video shared by ITBP sources shows several monkeys close to the camp. Two men step out dressed up as bears. The moment monkeys spot them, they flee. An ITBP officer said: Monkeys were disrupting the routine work of our men. They have met their match now."

ITBP is a para-military force that mans India's border with China and its personnel go through tough training to cope with the harsh Himalayan climate.

ITBP is not alone in cleverly using the monkeys fear of bears. Personnel at an airport in Ahmedabad also dress up like bears to keep monkeys away.
