Footage shows police manning a checkpoint in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, to catch residents breaking a strict coronavirus curfew.

Officers set up the roadblock after the country's government ordered a curfew from between 10 pm-4 am each night.

The measures are part of an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Officers set up the road block after the country's government ordered a curfew of 10pm to 4am each night to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Polcie arrested 49 teenagers who were staying out past the allowed time. Some had also gathered to drink alcohol together.

All teenagers arrested, fined and remanding in custody for violating the government's orders. The fine is 40,000 Thai baht while the maximum prison sentence is two years.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the whole country to be placed under the curfew and nobody is allowed outside their homes from 10pm to 4am.
