A summer storm has hit a vast area of Ang Thong province, central Thailand leaving dozens of buildings damaged.

The relentless storm was accompanied by heavy rain and strong wind that lasted for over an hour before it ceased.

Footage from last Thursday (April 23) afternoon shows the aftermath of the storm after it tore down buildings and blew away roofs.

One of the unfortunate locals, Jeerawat Kaewprasert, 52, said the damage almost caused him to pass out.

He said: "When the storm came, there was nobody home as we were out working. When I came back and saw my house I almost passed out from the shock.

"Because the roofs were blown away by the storm, our appliances were all soaked and damaged by the rain."

The sub-district governor in the area, Boonruen Konthongdee, said the officers will be out to survey the locals' house after they finished their duty at the government office.

She said: "The government office building was also damaged by the storm and the officers are now busy cleaning up the place.

"But they will be hurried out to visit the area and offer help to the locals who were affected by the storm."
