Motorcycle rider crashes into policeman as friend deserts him and runs away
A motorcycle rider in Vietnam found out the hard way how unsupportive his friend was - after he ran from an accident leaving him to the mercy of police.
The two youngsters were travelling together on the motorcycle when an eagle-eyed policeman tried to flag them down for not wearing helmets.
Dashcam footage shows how the cop darted into the road waving his baton and blowing a whistle in front of a market in Bac Ninh on May 10.
However, the rider appeared to ignore the demands and clattered into the officer causing him and his pillion passenger to fall to ground.
Three reinforcements arrived and the lad was wrestled to the ground before being pulled away in a headlock.
However, if he was hoping for moral support from his friend, he would have been sorely disappointed.
The second boy, in grey top and red shorts, was seen dashing away down the street, leaving his friend to face the consequences.
A motorist's car dashboard camera filmed the incident.
They said "We were shocked, but it was a good thing that the police officer did not seem to be hurt by the accident.''
The punishment in the country for riding without a helmet is between 100,000 - 200,000 Vietnamese dong. However, failing to stop for a policeman and then crashing into them is likely to result in a much stronger punishment.
