A rescue team had an epic struggle to catch a monitor lizard found sleeping under a family's car.

The team were called after Narongchai Nanudon, 31, found the 6.5ft long (two metres) creature napping on his driveway in Chachoengsao province, central Thailand, last Thursday (May 14)

Footage shows how the aggressive lizard refused to be caught.

Rescuers eventually managed to lasso the animal's head and wrestle it into submission. The lizard was then tied to a stretched and carried into a pickup truck where it was driven away and released back into the wild.

Narongchai said that it is not the first time the monitor lizard was seen, as it once crawled into his neighbour’s house before moving into their garage.

He said: ''This is the same one that I saw a few months ago. Then it escaped before we could catch it. I hope that this time it doesn't come back.''
