In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman fell into a 60-foot-deep water well in southern India's Tamil Nadu state.

The incident took place near Manapparai in Trichy district on Thursday (June 11).

After receiving a call, fire brigade officials rushed to the scene to rescue the woman.

A rope was lowered into the well with two knots tied to act as leverage supporting the woman's body. The woman slipped into the knots and was hauled out by the firemen.

Dramatic footage shows the women suspended inside the well holding onto the rope while the fire officials pull her out.

After several attempts, they managed to rescue the woman from the well.
