An old woman was rescued from drowning in a river in eastern India by a group of villagers.

The 72-year-old woman, named Malli Behera, comes from Dadhibabanpur village under Mansada area of Binjharpur Block, Odisha, and was bathing in the Kharasrota river when she fell asleep and floated away.

A youth named Maheswar Mallick noticed this and immediately jumped into the river to rescue her.

A group of villagers gathered and threw a rope to the youth to support his rescue work. The old woman was taken to a doctor and her was found unharmed.

The old woman is known as Malli Behera of Dadhibabanpur village under Mansada area of Binjharpur Block ,Jajpur. At the time of bathing near the bank of river, she slept and floated to a distance .
One youth named as Maheswar Mallick of Ranapur area noticed this and immediately jumped to the river to rescue her. Villagers gathered and thrown rope to the youth to support on his rescue work. The old Woman medical condition is safe.
